VIDAL Launches a Strategic Program for an AI/Agentic Integration Server Connecting Generative AI to Its Medical Knowledge Base

VIDAL, Europe's specialist in therapeutic decision support, is launching a strategic program to connect leading-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to its medical knowledge base and its clinical decision support (CDS) tools, recognized for their reliability. This project marks a major step forward in strengthening patient safety by enabling AI solutions to rely on validated, up-to-date and rigorously controlled medical information.

This MCP (Model Context Protocol) integration server paves the way for the secure development of AI agents that can be deployed within medical workflows.

This solution is designed to give LLM (large language model) systems and AI agents standardized, secure, controlled and traceable access to VIDAL's knowledge base. This essential bridge ensures that any AI application used in hospitals or medical practices will draw on validated, up-to-date and error-free medical data, a critical requirement for the safety of every patient.

VIDAL's MCP server offering represents a new step forward in supporting and automating healthcare workflows. It will help reduce the cost of integrating VIDAL's knowledge, accelerate the time-to-market of applications, and ensure that any AI innovation is grounded in reliable, up-to-date data, essential for patient safety.

VIDAL's MCP server will offer a simple, standardized integration framework. It will allow agent developers, software vendors and medical teams to build intelligent applications that draw directly on VIDAL's expertise, without resorting to complex proprietary development.

The ambition is to combine:

• The power of AI systems for natural language interpretation and the generation of decision support.
• The reliability of VIDAL's tools (robustness, up-to-date content, editorial control) to guarantee the quality and accuracy of the final recommendations.

Initially, work will focus on making it easier for AI systems to access VIDAL's knowledge in support of healthcare professionals' everyday needs:

• Assistance in drafting medical prescriptions
• Fast, guided access to therapeutic strategy in line with standards of care
• Generation of summaries or explanations based exclusively on VIDAL's validated knowledge
• Fast, reliable and context-aware medicines information search (dosages, interactions, etc.)
• Guided access to appropriate medicine use (adjustments, patient advice, levels of evidence).

A first version of this server will be made available to VIDAL's partners from early 2026. Its rollout will align with French and European regulatory requirements, with the aim of integrating certain components into VIDAL's CE-marked therapeutic safety tools.

In time, this technology will enable key scenarios to strengthen the safety of care pathways, such as assistance with pre-generating prescriptions, AI-augmented medication reconciliation, and real-time alerts for medication-related risks.
